Recycling of industrial by-products

Ekokem is ready to take responsibility of client’s waste management as a whole, which again means more cost-efficient and sustainable solutions for client’s industrial by-products.

Modes of recycling

We utilize industrial by-products primarily in our current operations, such as in contaminated soil remediation, groundwater protection, waste treatment processes and maintenance of landfills. Particular by-products can be exploited for soil enrichment purposes.

Recycled materials

Typical recycled materials are i.e. certain clays, sediments and sludges, ashes formed in power plants, metallurgical dusts and various crushed aggregates. We develop solutions for so far untapped waste fractions.

Extension of car park in Hietanen port, Kotka. Majority of ash accumulated in Southeast Finland in 6 months, altogether ca. 100 000 tons was exploited for structures of 37 hectares car park over soft soil. Also ca. 100 000 tons of crushed tires was consumed in structures of the site.

Closure and landscaping of 20 ha industrial landfill. The landfill of Europe’s largest paper mill was closed during 1997 - 2007. Amount of various by-products exploited in works was annually well over 100 000 m ³.
