Clean-up services – total projects according customers’ needs

Ekokem can take over the entire chain from start to finish, including appropriate packing of the waste, filing for any required licences, and finally, processing the waste and submitting a disposal certificate to the customer. We also carry out training courses in handling, packaging and labelling of hazardous waste for our foreign customers.

As an example our Project Etiopia

In 2001 Ekokem was contracted by the UN as a part of a comprehensive project involving the clean-up and disposal of total of 1,500 tonnes of obsolete pesticides in Ethiopia. These hazardous materials had been stored in hundreds of warehouses in different parts of the country.

Our responsibilities included repackaging, labelling and transporting the pesticides to Finland for treatment and destruction as well as training local authorities and persons responsible for waste management to handle and pack hazardous waste safely and securely.

The two-year project, which was successfully completed in 2003, once again proved Ekokem's expertise in planning of workable solutions in remote areas having virtually no roads and in varying climatic conditions without compromising the safety requirements involved.
