Waste to energy – incineration in grate furnace

Industrial waste can be incinerated in Ekokem’s Waste-to-Energy plant, the fourth incineration line of Ekokem, which has a grate furnace, where mainly municipal waste is incinerated, but also industrial waste including some hazardous waste. The thermal power of the plant is 55 MW. The waste is incinerated in a five-step grate furnace. The process is supplied with energy recovery unit, where heat is recovered as district heating and electricity. The five-phase purification line for the flue gases comprises a spray dryer, an electrostatic precipitator, a heat exchanger, hydrochloric acid and sulphur dioxide scrubbers and a fabric filter.
